This is part of the fountain in the garden in Magnolia, Arkansas. I like the play of the water
against the wall. My grandson, Gavin said it looked like a chunk of cheese with water running
over it. I think it looks like a canyon of sorts.......Either way its kinda neat...........I visit the
garden quite often. It is peaceful, tranquil and very pretty with all the different types of flowers
and bushes blooming. May 3, 2010

When you were my little sister
Sometimes I didn’t like you much
You were a brat, and ratted on me
When I thought I knew it all

Even though you got spanked
It was a fun ride huh?
Golf carts required no license
So why should that Barracuda?

I always wondered if the keys would
Ever be found
I didn’t tell you then cause
Besides being a brat you tattled

But then we grew up and went separate ways
You grew into a lovely young woman
You were still my little sister
But not the brat I once thought you were

We’ve shared many moments together
Stumbled and fell, yet never failed
To be there for each other
Sisters are that way

My prayer for you this special day
Is to see life come full circle
To know your worth is measured
In the kindness you bestow

We share that special bond
Only sisters can attest
To understand, not judge, just love
No matter how we fail

So be happy, enjoy the rain when you
Hoped the sun would shine
Change only if you want to
Sometimes roses bloom in winter.

Happy Birthday

Kathryn how do I describe the overwhelming pride you bring to my heart?
When I think back to that rainy night you were born until this very day that is
Filled with sunshine and happiness, accomplishments and expectations of what tomorrow holds, I remember a precious first grandchild, What excitement ensued.
From the time you pushed the front door open and went head over heals down the steps and we spent half the morning in the emergency room. Of course you were fine and I was a wreck. The hours we spent reading and playing will always be memories I cherish like no others. Memories of birthday parties, a scared little girl going into the operating room, Christmas and Easters at Granddaddy ‘s and Mama Kitten’s, vicious bathtubs, special times of doing nothing but being together. There are memories here: Toys you played with, books you read, notes you wrote and pictures you drew; Saved in a box with your name on it and They are all here in my heart, the same heart that is filled with love and pride for you Kathryn, For all you stand for, the caring, loving, kind woman you have become. You are one of God’s gifts to me. I love you.

As I walk through my garden I touch the tiny leaves
Of my lonely rose bush

It stands all alone, by itself
No other nearby

The hibiscus grow profuselThey entertain each other with colors of purple and white

And mix together as the wind blows
Back and forth

But my little lonely rose bush
Has no other to share its quiet beauty

Only the bees occasionally fly by
And my fingertips when I feel the velvet petal

Someday soon, I shall plant another rosebush
So my lonely rose won't stand alone

And when I no longer walk through the garden
My little rose won't miss my loving touch.

I wonder

Sometimes when I look at you,

you're staring back at me
I wonder who you see, who you think I am
The same person I see in the mirror?

Do you see me as I see myself?
I wonder what life is for you, do you see it as I do

Do the trees leaf out as green for you
Does the wind blow the same way?

How many birds have you seen lately?
Were they red, or blue or

Was it the Mourning Dove perched
High on the fence
singing his sad, lonely song?

Last night when the storm blew in
Did you notice the way

The clouds circled round?

Did you see the sky turn dark?

Did you wonder if I was afraid

When you woke this morning

Was the sun reflecting off

The blinds unto the floor?

Did you remember what I told you

Last night just before I fell asleep

Will you recall later when your day gets busy?

And then will you forget?
Will you stop and think about me

When you see how blue the sky is now?

Or will you think about the storm that blew in
Last night and turned the sky so black?

Reflections of a Mother

To look into your eyes and dry your tears when the hurt won’t go away,
That’s why God chose me.
To hold your hand when you cross the street, keeping you safe from harm each day,
That’s why God chose me.

To comb your hair and brush your teeth and button up your shirt,
That’s why God chose me.
To smile back when you smile at me and hug you when you need comfort,
That’s why God chose me.

And to fill my heart with love and joy, my day with kisses and hugs,
That’s why God chose you.
For all the little things you give to me most importantly your love,
That’s why God chose you.

To make me humble, selfless, responsible and strong,
That’s why God chose you.
To give me hope in a hopeless world, a heritage to carry on,
That’s why God chose you.

Memories

A whiff of a long lost scent which clung to your tweed jacket
The one that you wrapped around my shoulders as we walked the calles of Cali
The warmth of your arms permeating through the fabric unto my skin
Left a scar that transcended into my heart

A scent that surrounds me with hope
Of which life comes full circle
And someday the aroma in the air will be
Of that tweed jacket and the arms tucked inside

Older now, the scent must be softer, more subtle
Tender yet worn from the years of wear and tear
But no less the scent in my memory
Of a closeness buried deep into the threads of that familiar garment

Forty years have passed and your voice transcends time
As you speak, I close my eyes your voice permeates my conscience
Your penetrating accent pulls me back in time
Slowly moving, pressed together in rhythm of the Kontiki’s Latin song

Did you say Rendezvous? Yes! Where? When?
Cartegena,! Cool nights, ancient history, your blue tweed jacket
Arms wrapped around my shoulders as we stroll the narrow calles
Your wafted scent bringing me closer to what I thought was lost forever

Father Ray

Such a life is his who gives to all, no man should want no man should fall

He gives himself with no regret, only that man should never forget

Who put him here to care for the sick, love the downtrodden and build up the weak.

He takes no credit for all he has done, just glory to God and love for the Son,

Each life he touches, each person he meets, Gives homage to God whom he always seeks.

God bestow on your humble priest, all of your love and all of your peace.

The children, the needy, and the poor, will walk through the streets and knock on his door

His arms always open to bring in his fold, with God in his heart, his story be told

His flock are his children God gave him to tend, those lives in shambles entrusted to mend.

THE NEXT BENCH

My eyes are tired and heavy
The bench is hard and bent
But I keep thinking maybe
I'll find something I can rent,

My bench keeps changing places
Whether its inside or out
All I see are empty faces
As they pass me round about

My shoes are dirty and worn
With holes in both the toes
My pants are shabby and torn
I wonder if anyone knows

That once I had a home and wife
A little girl to tuck in at night
Not a rich but a happy life
But the next bench is now my plight.

When we wonder through life's garden
We find flowers, weeds and thorns
Tomorrow comes before we're ready
And begins the day that we are born.

As I think back on those yesterdays
When we all had so much fun
Hanging out at the lake
Playing volleyball in the sun.

I see your smiling face, your laughing eyes
The Kim I call my friend
Get well sweet one, don't give up...
Fight until the end......

But most of all remember this
You are not alone......
God is with you through it all......
Until He calls you home.....

I love you Kim, my dear sweet friend
The memories we all have shared....
Those times will live forever
In the hearts of us that care........
